Couples Sand Casting Workshop – Wedding Bands

This intimate, full-day experience invites couples to create their wedding rings together—slowly, intentionally, and by hand. Guided through each step, you’ll learn traditional jewelry-making techniques while crafting rings that carry not just symbolism, but the memory of their making.

The Experience

We begin with an introduction to wax carving, where you’ll design and sculpt your individual rings in wax. You’ll learn the fundamentals of shaping, proportion, and texture, creating forms that feel personal and expressive rather than perfectly uniform. Once your wax models are complete, you’ll transform them into sand molds and prepare them for casting.

Using the ancient technique of sand casting, you’ll pour molten metal directly into your molds, allowing the metal to flow and settle organically. Sand casting is inherently unpredictable—each piece is shaped by heat, gravity, and chance. This workshop is best suited for couples who are drawn to whimsy, wabi-sabi, and one-of-a-kind jewelry, and who value character and story over machine-made perfection.

After casting, you’ll learn how to finish your rings by hand through sawing, filing, sanding, and polishing. By the end of the experience, you’ll leave with a pair of wedding rings you created together—perfectly imperfect heirlooms infused with intention, collaboration, and meaning.

Materials & Metal Options

• Sterling silver is included in the workshop price.

• Gold is available as an upgrade and is priced separately based on the finished weight of the rings and the current metal market at the time of casting.

• Preference for 14k or 18k gold must be communicated before the workshop to allow time for proper sourcing.

• Stones such as natural sapphires & diamonds (lab and natural) are available but should be discussed before the workshop to make sure we have what you want on hand.

In some cases, we may be able to work with client-provided gold for recycling into your rings. This is evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must be discussed prior to booking.
