Sand Casting Jewelry Group Workshop: Create a Ring or Pendant

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of sand casting, one of the oldest metalworking techniques in the world. Guided step by step, you’ll create a unique ring or pendant from start to finish—working with raw materials, molten metal, and traditional hand-finishing tools.

During the class, we’ll cover the full sand casting process, including how to build a sand mold, create proper funnels and venting, weigh and melt metal, and cast it directly into your mold. Once your piece is cast, you’ll learn how to hand-finish it through sawing, sanding, and polishing—bringing your jewelry to its final form.

Students will choose from a selection of my existing ring or pendant designs, allowing you to focus on learning technique while still creating a piece that reflects your personal style.

Finished pieces are cast in brass. Sterling silver & gold are available as an upgrade for an additional fee, priced based on the current metal market on the day of your workshop. If you prefer to cast in gold, please let us know ahead of time so we can make sure we have enough gold on hand for your piece.

Workshop Details

• Duration: 3 hours

• Location: Dea Dia's backyard studio in Morongo Valley, CA, conveniently located 25 minutes from both Palm Springs and Joshua Tree.

• Class size: Limited to 3 students for individualized guidance. $300 per student. If you are booking for multiple people, add to cart and increase the quantity up to 3 people.

• Experience level: Beginner-friendly, no prior jewelry experience required. Children age 10+ welcome with parental guidance.

• Materials & tools: All provided

For groups of 4 or more, private bookings are available please send an email. Private workshops run 4–5 hours, allowing for a slower pace, additional instruction, and a more personalized experience.

You’ll leave with a finished piece of jewelry you made yourself—perfectly imperfect, shaped by your hands, and infused with the memory of the making.
