Bahía

A collection to celebrate summer and all its glory.

From long road trips to lazy days under the sun combing the beach.

This collection is a mini time capsule of my trip to Bahia de Los Angeles.

Last summer, my family and I drove down to Bahía de los Ángeles, a remote bay on the Sea of Cortez, protected as a biosphere for whale sharks, sea turtles, and grey whales. Along the shore may daughter and I collected shells, each one shaped by tide and time.

Back in the studio, I pressed those shells into sand to form a mold and cast them in recycled silver, bronze, and gold. The shell stays whole. Only its likeness is left behind in the metal.

Bahía is a small, one-of-a-kind collection, cast from a place that asked us to slow down and pay attention.
